Lost survivor
A mission going wrong is somehow the least of Trevor's worries. An unforeseen force becomes a terrifying reality, and Trevor needs to make sure he can survive until help can arrive. The only safety he can find is a house that has been long abandoned. At least, that is what Trevor believed it was.
The Gameplay
The gameplay loop is a cycle where a player enters a room, fights enemies, is rewarded for victory. Each room contains differing amounts of enemies, so the player needs to be prepared for combat once the door is opened. Additionally, money can be used to purchase new weapons or to heal the player.
Sounds in Unreal
The focus of the project was to develop a game that uses sounds created by me. These sounds included sound effects, background music, ambient audio, and voice lines.
Implementing sounds
In order to implement the different sounds to the game, I utilized different unreal features. I created sound classes to control the central volume of sounds. Sound cues were made for sounds such as zombie hits to create variations. Sound attenuation was used for sounds such as lights or vending machines to create 3D audio.
Creating sounds
To create all of these sounds, I used the software Audacity to modify and edit existing sounds into ones that fit into my game. These edits included, but were not limited to, adding reverb, modifying treble/bass, altering the graphic EQ, and adjusting pitches.
