Missing
Missing is a short horror experience focused on a playable character named Vaughn trying to find his missing friend Hector. Vaughn goes to the woods that Hector was last seen at and decides to search for him.
The Gameplay
The player follows bright lights that lead them to Hector's abandoned campsite. The campsite has a note that tells the player to run away. As the player leaves the campsite, the lights from the candles get blown out. The only way to escape is by following the sound of the car's honking which grows louder as the player approaches it.
The path design
The map of this experience was designed to get the most out of a limited amount of area. The pathway in red focused on utilizing light as a guide. The pathway in orange focused on utilizing sound as a guide.
Lighting
I wanted to explore using light as a guide for the player. Although the player is allowed to move in any direction, the light is meant to represent a safe zone within the unknown and eerie forest.
Sound
I also wanted to explore using sound as a guide for the player. As the player reaches the firepit, all the other candles go out. This empowers the as it is the only other sense available to the player and represents a growing safety as a player approaches the car.
Environment
The environment was creating using trees from the Edith Finch: House Grounds asset pack.
